History
The Emirates Center for Wildlife Propagation (ECWP) came about as the result of the United Arab Emirates’ and Morocco’s shared goal of developing a program to preserve North Africa’s houbara bustard.
The late President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan officially set up the ECWP in October 1995.
He takes a passionate interest in wildlife, natural resources and ecological issues but also seeks to preserve the Arab world’s traditions and culture. That is why he launched a pioneering, visionary initiative aiming to ensure sustainable management of the houbara bustard.
